Well that was short lived.

So you guys are probably wondering why the title. Yours truly had decided to hang up the cans and give up mixing the glorious sounds of drum and bass. I don't know why but for some reason I wasn't wanting to play out anymore. I had an awesome gig at the FORCE - PHD AA's Rave playing back to back with Keeddlez and I thought why not retire haha. Looking back at the footage of the night and I don't know what I was thinking. Maybe it's the lack of gigs coming but I don't know. But who cares. As they say in business 'THE SHOW MUST GO ON !'

Well it's less than two weeks away and another Red Can Session is on the cards. Held at the House of Kurt this night will be a celebration for Mr Kurtox's 29th birthday. Yours truly will be mixing up a 2hr showcase with the host. In all honesty I can't wait. My liver is primed for this night as this is a Last Man Standing session. Going to be a lot of fun.

Coming up on the 13th November Kurtox and I will be gracing the 1's and 2's at the Rise for your aural pleasure. After our last venture together at New Crop this is a set you shouldn't miss. Any of you guys want to get on the door list hit us up on Facebook.

Well this is the end of another post from me and I would like to mention a massive Happy Birthday to Perth's godfather of the decks Hutcho. He has finally reached the ripe young age of 40. On ya mate. Will be keen to have a Red Can with you soon.
Much love from DK.

Hold your head up high....

And blow your brains out.

Oh hai there... Well look at this. The DK posting another entry on his blog in less than a month. SHOCK HORROR! Well I did promise you guys I would fill you in on all the goss on the last couple of gigs I have graced with my presence. It's gonna be one sided ya know but as I have mentioned previously this is MY blog. Tee Hee Hee.

:: 14th April :: Fight Night @ Beatmash ::

Well this was going to be my second outing at the weekly installment they call Beat Mash. Hosted by the Inhibit boys this night has won the PDMA award 'Best Weekly Night' two years running. So it's always going to be a pleasure to have a rinse. Rocking up to Bar Open and grabbing my bar card. I started smashing down middy after middy just to calm the nerves. Always happens when I play these type of nights. Looking around the club crew starting to slowly trickle in. Five mins before I was due behind the wheels going b2b Xander I was wondering.. WHERE THE HELL ARE MY MATES ? But my question was answered when I opened with The Upbeats - Big Skeleton. I looked up just before the drop and bam the club was packed. Such a good feeling knowing that all my mates were there out in full force burning up the dancefloor in support.

Xander and I played a bit of everything. I played some new stuff but also dropped some classics aswell. Xander did well playing some upfront stuff and headed towards the darker stuff aswell. Was alot a of fun and I can't wait to do it again. Unfortunatly I got so down and shit. I felt in a way I didn't play the best of sets. Like it's hard to play to a crowd which has a few other dj's in it. It's like oh shit.. I trainwrecked that mix. Those guys are going to be chinstroking and grimacing going 'Oh that was bad'. It's fucked. But when you have everyone coming up to you going 'OMFG you played awesome!' It's like 'Okay well if you guys enjoyed it why the fuck am I being so harsh on myself?' Overall I enjoyed it and everyone else fucking did. So 'DK.. Chin up cunt' haha. Anyways, I'm tired. I was going to dribble on about the all ages Glow which I played at on Saturday but.. I cannot be fucked. But I promise to do it soon.

Later fuckbags.. DK

Playing gigs makes me moist...

..in places a man shouldn't be haha.

Been awhile since I've posted on here but I have a couple of gigs coming up. First of is at the mighty Bar Open. The Inhibit lads have a weekly dnb night down there called Beatmash. Every weds night. Always good fun. Every thursday I without a doubt wake up with the hangover from hell but it's all good. Anyways I will be manning the 1's and 2's with upcomer Xander. Should be good fun...

Next up is a good ol AA's party. Put on by Mitch and Steve from Future Dance. They are bringing the goodness in the shape of Glow. 17th of April. I is playing in the 2nd room. Love playing these types of gigs.

Anyways as I said, just a quick update. I will do a decent entry after the gigs. Give you a bit of a review in the good ol tongue in cheek Darcy way.

Peace out Fuckbags... DK

Tune of the moment : AC/DC - Baby Please Don't Go (Live at the Myer Bowl in Melbourne) Brilliant version of this song. Bon Scott has the best line to get people clapping. ''ALRIGHT THOSE GUYS NOT CLAPPING ALONG, YOUR PLAYING WITH YOURSELVES.. THATS BETTER''. R.I.P

Double Header !!?!

Thought I might as well give a run down on what happened last weekend. Was a pearler of a Saturday night and alot of running amok was done.

Well I managed to double book myself playing at FORCE's bush party and on RTR FM's Rythym Trippin with Alba and Moe. Mind you they were at the same time. But after a bit of ringing around and begging dj's to swap times I was able to make both sets.

Rocked up at RTR waiting for Alba to turn up so Reece and I knocked the top of a couple of cold ones. Hoegaardens at that. Though I managed to break a full one. But I am blaming the wind and I is sticking to it. Anyways Alba rocks up and it's time to get the show on the road. Moe was first out the gates at 11pm and played some 'Happy' tunes as by request.

Seeing this was my first time on the airwaves and even with a few glorious beverages under my belt I was still nervous and shaking like a dog shitting razorblades. Moe finished off at 11:40 and it was my turn to man the 1's and 2's. As I was cueing up Alba asks what tune I'm opening with. "Rock It" was the answer and all I got in reply was "You bastard ! I was going to open with that" Anyways I rolled through my set rinsing a bit of everything (you can re stream the show from RTR's website) and then Alba jumped on and played a healthy set of wobble. 1am came swinging by and it was time to say my goodbyes and crossing my fingers for another set in the future.

Now it was time to leg it out to the bush party for some mischief and more drunken times.

With Scorpius at the wheel and his missus Katie riding shotgun I snuggled in the back and prepared for the hour and a bit drive. Funny how time goes by quickly when sleeping. Yes I was checking for cracks in my eyelids. Nothing more nothing less.

We rolled up to the site of the party and it was going off like a frog in a sock. I was in the mood to tear it up and this was the place to do it. I ran around saying my hellos and what nots to the usual crew. Alot of them were frothing for some dnb action as the last 3 hours had been gabber and hardcore.

Ravix and G Force were rinsing a pretty decent set keeping the crowd grooving away. At this point I managed to find a couple of Red Cans and smashed them back in fine Darky form. Last couple from Grant were blinders. The Auscore tune Pokemon for some reason gets me amped all the time. Last tune from Grant was some remix of Badger Badger Badger. Many a laughs were had.

I decided on opening up with Telemetrik's The Bane. Fucking smasher of a tune. Definatly got the heads moving. From this point on I was having that much fun, people handing me drinks, dropping tunes perfectly and just having a ball. Scorpius did well with some of the tunes he dropped. I can remember dropping KC - Extreme Steel it has both guitar riffs from Slayer - South of Heaven and Pantera - Walk. The D-floor turned into a mosh. Was epic.

Anyways thats the majority of what happened though I managed to show everyone that I have no shame. I was well tanked by this point and Hutcho was spinning some Hardstyle when someone asked me to do a nudey run. I declined at first but I agreed to do it for 2 smokes. I must of been smashed. Anyways with a dust mask in possesion to cover my family jewels I bolted on to the dfloor in front of Hutcho and did a sexy dance. The look on his face was priceless.

Well I can say is that my bare ass won't appear for awhile and all up I had a ripper of a night.
Cheers to Alba for having me in the studio and to the listeners that tuned in. The crew out at the bush party. Cheers for your loving support. Oh one word "KNUCKLE SAUCE".

Till my next blog, Keep it foolish yah!

Song of the mo' : Foreign Beggars (Feat Noisia) - Contact.. 'Get that in yah knickers'

DK
Well here is a few lists I want to get out in the open. My personal top 20 all time favourite dnb tunes. Also my top 10 producers. DJ's will be done later in another blog haha.

These lists are based on what tickles my fancy and not what everyone else thinks. If you got something to say like "Oh but you forgot this tune blah by blah" or "Blah is a better producer than blah blah". This is MY lists. Not yours!

Top 20 Tunes of all time:

1) Bad Company - The Nine
2) Dom and Roland - Imagination
3) Stakka and Skynet - Biosphere
4) Concord Dawn - Morning Light
5) Klute - Part of Me
6) J Majik - Spaced Invaders
7) Ed Rush + Optical - Bacteria
8) Konflict - Messiah
9) Konflict - Star Trails
10) Kiko - Passport
11) Bad Company - Ladies Of Spain
12) Typecell - Egomatric (Rob F rmx)
13) High Contrast - Return Of Forever
14) John B - Up All Night
15) Ram Trilogy - Titan
16) Ram Trilogy - Firewire
17) Ryme Tyme + Trace - Move VIP
18) Teebee - Bounce
19) Adam F - We Want Your Soul (Ed Rush and Optical rmx)
20) Pendulum - Still Grey

Bloody hell. It really is hard to do a top 20 list of tunes. But these are the ones that makes me wet in places a man shouldn't be.

Top 10 Producers :

1) Noisia
2) Matrix
3) Optical
4) Spor
5) Kemal
6) Sub Focus
7) The Upbeats
8) D Bridge
9) Kiko
10) Phace

Bit of a mixed bag but some of these producers are just unreal. The Quinn brothers aka Matrix and Optical are bloody tops. Noisia, I might do an entry on describing why they will always be on top of their game. Anything and everything they touch is unreal. No one is remotely close to their level. Upbeats get an honourable mention for their style and sound. So grimey it's tops.

Drum and Bass, Rock n Roll.
Both these warm my soul.

Oh hai there.

Hrmm... How does one start their first blog ? An intro of yours truly would be good but the majority of you lovely peeps that I 'HOPE' will be reading already know who I am and the passion I have for Drum n Bass.

This blog will be a mixture of tongue in cheek humour, all out seriousness and anything in between. I will be telling how it is from my point of view. From my weekly adventures down at Beatmash (Bar Open) to the all ages parties that I rinse it proper at.

I will be updating this blog as much as possible with info on what gigs I have coming up, posting up links to my old studio mixes and most recently recorded live sets.

Anyways I dribble too much sometimes but eh thats what blogs are for yeah ?

Peace and fucking believe...
